Welcome to our School

Headteacher and class

It is a great pleasure to introduce you to our school website and hope you find all the information you need.

Possibly the greatest strength of the school is its friendly atmosphere and sense of community. We are proud of our well-deserved high reputation as being the only Church of England VA High School in East Anglia.

Archbishop Sancroft has become an increasingly popular choice amongst parents due to:

  • our comparatively small size which means we
really can offer Christian child-centred education
  • our focus on developing the whole person -
    physical, social, moral and spiritual

The school's Mission Statement, bringing together both spiritual and education goals, sets out the aims to which all who work in the school aspire:

Our mission:

In keeping with our Christian values, the school Staff, Parents and Governors, will work together to encourage a real enthusiasm for learning and pride in our school.

As a team, we aim to offer education which is challenging, informing, exciting and enjoyable.

We will have succeeded if everyone is given the chance to achieve the best results possible, and is equipped with life skills and experience for their future.

Information about us:

All lessons are taught in dedicated classrooms with multi-media projectors. The Sancroft Centre, opened in 2011, includes a state of the art Food Technology classroom, additional computer suite and Studio for the Performing Arts. Students have the opportunity to benefit from the excellent programme of staff-led activities and visits out of school.

In the 2012 Ofsted report, the school was judged to be ‘Satisfactory’ in all areas, and in the Church School Inspection shortly afterwards, 3 out of the 4 categories were judged as ‘Outstanding’.  For more details click on the Inspection reports on the Home page. Our dedicated and committed staff are determined to offer the best possible learning experience for all students, whatever their abilities or needs.

The Governors are responsible both to the local authority and the Diocese for the overall educational provision of the school. They particularly welcome the involvement of parents and carers, whether by supporting the school through the Friends of Archbishop Sancroft High School (FOTASHS) or, more importantly, through the active encouragement and support they give to students throughout their school careers.

At Archbishop Sancroft High School we nurture a sense of belonging to our extended family, each member being an individual.  We believe that our students are hardworking, involved and above all happy.

Why not come and meet us and see for yourself? We promise you a warm welcome.

Taking Responsibility

“Where the school behaviour code is infringed, students are encouraged to see the mistakes they have made, take responsibility for their actions, and learn from them. This method of restorative justice has almost totally removed issues pertaining to bullying and nastiness. “

Bullying being addressed

“ Nearly three-quarters of students, parents and carers expressed confidence that bullying is dealt with well, including students who had experienced bullying in the last year.”

Collective worship

“Collective worship is central to the life of the school and reflects the agreed half-termly Christian value, for example during the inspection the value was “hope” and collective worship centred upon “hope for the future”. “
