Archbishop Sancroft

Church of England High School

Wednesday 10th March

Welcome to our School

Headteacher and class

It is a great pleasure to introduce you to our school website and hope you find all the information you need.

Possibly the greatest strength of the school is its friendly atmosphere and sense of community. We are proud of our well-deserved high reputation as being the only Church of England VA High School in East Anglia.

Archbishop Sancroft has become an increasingly popular choice amongst parents due to:

  • our high standard of teaching
  • our comparatively small size which means we
really can offer Christian child-centred education
  • our focus on developing the whole person -
    physical, social, moral and spiritual

The school's Mission Statement, bringing together both spiritual and education goals, sets out the aims to which all who work in the school aspire:

Our mission:

In keeping with our Christian values, the school Staff, Parents and Governors, will work together to encourage a real enthusiasm for learning and pride in our school.

As a team, we aim to offer education which is challenging, informing, exciting and enjoyable.

We will have succeeded if everyone is given the chance to achieve the best results possible, and is equipped with life skills and experience for their future.

Information about us:

All students are offered broad choices, beyond National Curriculum requirements, and public examination results place the school above average for Norfolk and the country. All lessons are taught in dedicated classrooms. The teaching block, opened in 2001, includes a library resource centre and computer suite, together with classrooms equipped with inter-active whiteboards, providing an additional specialist environment for teaching and learning. All students have the opportunity to benefit from the excellent programme of staff-led activities and visits out of school.

In the 2006 Ofsted report, the school was judged to be good in all areas, and outstanding in its provision for the personal development and well-being of learners. This is a standard on which we aim to build and improve. The school has now been designated a Specialist Science College and this will give impetus to new developments and open up further possibilities for enhancing the quality of learning in the school- the laboratories were re-furbished in 2008.  The dedicated and committed staff are determined to offer the best possible learning experience for all students, whatever their abilities or needs.

The Governors are responsible both to the local authority and the diocese for the overall educational provision of the school. They particularly welcome the involvement of parents and carers, whether by supporting the school through the Friends of Archbishop Sancroft High School (FOTASHS) or, more importantly, through the active encouragement and support they give to students throughout their school careers.

At Archbishop Sancroft High School we nurture a sense of belonging to our extended family, each member being an individual.  We believe that our students are hardworking, involved and above all happy.

Why not come and meet us and see for yourself? We promise you a warm welcome.

Community

This is a school which believes in itself as a community.  Relationships are a real strength and pupils are encouraged to take on responsibility for the wellbeing of each other.
