Homework

Homework plays a key role in our students’ learning. It encourages them to develop the skills, confidence and motivation needed to study effectively on their own and consolidates and reinforces skills and understanding developed at school.

Students are set homework on a daily basis and this is recorded in the Student’s diary.

14-16 courses involve substantial coursework elements.  Students are often set tasks over a period of time, many of which involve a degree of research.   It is vital that students are weekly reminded of their responsibility. Parents are asked to support children by emphasising Homework and Individual Study, and to give every encouragement to the development of good habits and attitudes.

A review of the Homework policy is one of the whole school priorities 2009 - 2010

Supportive and Caring

“Every child is a valued individual member of the school community” and “our school gives us the chance to express what we feel” are two comments, made by students expressing the values that centrally underpin the work of this school.
