Homework plays a key role in our students’ learning.
Homework encourages students to develop the skills, confidence and motivation needed to study effectively on their own and consolidates and reinforces skills and understanding developed at school.
Students are often set tasks over a period of time, many of which involve a degree of research. It is vital that students are reminded weekly of their responsibility. Parents and Carers are asked to support children by emphasising Homework and Individual Study, and to give every encouragement to the development of good habits and attitudes.
At Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9), students have to complete one extended learning homework project per week with a focus on a particular subject each week. The project should take a minimum of 2.5 hours for the student to complete. Regular weekly homework may also be set in some subjects and students will still be expected to revise in preparation of their assessments.
At Key Stage 4, Years 10 and 11 are set homework tasks by their subject teacher for their core and options subjects.
