KS3 - Students study a variety of different topics covering all aspects of Art, Craft and Design that promote individual creativity whilst developing key skills.
At KS3, the emphasis is on students developing a greater understanding of the essential elements needed to progress successfully. They undertake a variety of different projects that aim to build up competencies year on year so that by the end of KS3 each student has a good understanding of using line, tone, colour, pattern and shape in their work. They also study a wide range of artists, both historical and contemporary and learn how to discuss their work and the work of others. Projects are wide and varied and cover all aspects of 2D and 3D Art, Craft and Design.
Art and Design - Students experiment with a varied range of techniques to achieve independent outcomes. Drawing is very important are skills of developing and experimenting with ideas. This is encouraged by the use of a work journal / sketchbook which encourages independent learning. A wide variety of work is produced in both 2D and 3D.
KS4 - Students can opt to take either the Edexcel Syllabus in GCSE Art and Design or Art/Textiles. Both courses are challenging and popular.
Art / Textiles -This encompasses a wide range of skills from silk painting to sculpture. Students work on two topics with a project each term. Work is built up in sketchbooks and creativity is encouraged. Students make a variety of final pieces from clothing to 3D fine art pieces.
